The meaning, understanding, and power of creativity is vast. As humans we all share the capability to be creative, and we’ve learned that practicing creativity can be therapeutic.

In this episode we’ll discuss a fascinating story depicted in the Greg Kwedar’s film Sing Sing (2024, Apple TV) which demonstrates the power of creativity as a transformative process for a group of inmates at a maximum security prison. A true story about a theater program within the prison, the film does an excellent job of taking us along the journey of several inmates who found creative freedom within the restrictive walls of their incarceration.

John Whitfield has an Oscar nomination for the film based on his time in the New York prison. But more important to him is overturning his conviction. Read more
